Dr. Paul K. Maurer, M.D.

Dr. Paul K. Maurer, M.D. earned his BA from the University of Rochester and subsequently his MD from the University of Rochester Medical School. He completed his residency in Neurosurgery at the University of Rochester Medical Center. He is board certified and currently serves as an Oral Board Examiner for the American Board of Neurological Surgeons.

Upon completion of residency training he was an Attending Neurosurgeon at the Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, DC from 1988-1991. He deployed to the Middle East, 86th EVAC Hospital as Chief of Neurosurgery for the 101st Airborne Division. During his service in the Gulf War, Dr. Maurer was awarded the Bronze Star Medal for leadership in a combat theatre.

He is currently the Chairman of Neurosurgery at the Rochester Regional Health System in Rochester, NY. Additionally, he has been a Professor of Neurosurgery at the University of Rochester Medical Center since 1993.

Dr. Maurer is the Medical Director of Treadproof Academy outside Nashville, TN.

Dr. Maurer is a leading national lecturer on wounding and terminal ballistics. He has guest lectured for law enforcement and federal agencies, including: U.S. Customs and Border Patrol, Department of Homeland Security and the U.S. Federal Air Marshal Service.
