Shooting Ranges and the Noise and Environmental Issues They Face

NRA – ILA Associate Litigation Counsel Michael Jean will give an in-depth overview of the nuisance and environmental issues that shooting ranges face. This section will cover common-law nuisance actions resulting from noise and the range-protection statutes that many states have passed to shield ranges from these actions. It will further cover several federal environmental statutes that affect ranges and the use of lead ammunition through government enforcement and citizen-suit provisions, including the Toxic Substances Control Act; the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act; the Comprehensive Environmental Responsive, Compensation, and Liability Act AKA Superfund; and the Clean Water Act.
